Last week was an enormous week of athletics. We had 10 students competing at the NSWPSSA, and we were so proud of each student's efforts. During the week, we cheered and shouted from our classroom seats as we watched the following students give their all for their school, their families and God.

Last week, at the NSWPSSA Athletics Championships, Jai Davis finished second in the 12 Years Boys Discus, and will now compete at his 3rd in a row National Athletics Championships in Canberra. Jai now stands as the most capped NSW State Sports Representative in our amazing sporting history.

On the podium as well was the Senior Boys Relay Team, who finished 3rd in what was an amazing run by all four boys. Albi Winters started the team off with a fantastic start off blocks. The baton was then passed to Hunter Pociask, and then to Mason Pope and then to our final leg runner Nixon Smith. Four extremely quick athletes who went from individuals to a bronze medal team at the NSWPSSA.

WELL DONE, HOOPERS

Basketball.jpg

A huge well done to our school basketball team, who competed at the NSW Basketball Gala Day in Coffs Harbour yesterday. The team played very well, and Mr Post and I were very proud of how all the students displayed their PBS.

ZONE SUMMER TRIALS - BASKETBALL

Congratulations to our huge number of athletes who competed at the Hastings Zone Basketball Trials in Port Macquarie this week. All students played very well and learned a variety of new skill sets. Lachlan Laundry, Nate Nolland, Nate Baird, Liam Power, Finn Cowan, Jacob Morris, Koby Collins, Eliza Zvirzdinas and Livinia Wehlow, will represent the Hastings Zone at the Lismore Diocese Basketball Trials on November 25.

SCHOOL SWIMMING CARNIVAL

SWIMMING.jpg

Our School Swimming Carnival will be held on Monday, December 8. This carnival is for all students in Years 3-6 and a select number of Year 1-2 students. Shortly, information will be sent home about the competitive carnival section. If your child wants to swim for a spot in our school swimming team in 2026, please fill in all details and return them to school.

If your child wants to be in the non-competitive section of the swimming carnival, please ignore the sheet and do not return the sheet to school, as they will automatically be put into the non-competitive section.

I will visit all Years 1 and 2 classes next week and explain the expectations and competency level required to compete at our school swimming carnival.

If there are any questions in regards to our School Swimming Carnival, please feel free to contact me at jeff.arkinstall@lism.catholic.edu.au

AROUND THE GROUNDS

Nate Baird ...

Congratulations to Nate Baird, who recently played Oztag in Coffs Harbour, where he was selected to play in the Under 11's National Oztag Team for the Marlins. Well done, Nate.

Keira McCarthy, Georgia Hayes and Bronte Hayes ...

Keira, Georgia and Bronte recently took part in the Horse Extravaganza (ISHE) in Tamworth. This event is one of the largest school-based equestrian competitions in Australia, with 560 riders from schools across NSW and Queensland competing in a range of disciplines such as show jumping, dressage, combined training, show horse, eventing and campdraft.

Keira, riding Sarge competed in the 50cm Combined Training, placing 9th, the Preliminary dressage placing 8th in the 1.3, as well as the 50cm Show Jumping.

Georgia, riding Cricket placed 8th in the 50cm Combined Training, 2nd in the Show Horse event and also competed in the Preliminary Dressage classes.

Bronte, riding Gracie, attended their first ISHE event. Bronte achieved 5th in the Preliminary 1.3 Dressage and received a 1st and 2nd in the Show Horse classes. With some of the finest riders and horses in attendance, these results highlight the girls’ horsemanship and exceptional hard work to achieve their results.
