KINDERGARTEN ENROLMENTS 2026

KINDER.jpg

This week we finalised our first round of Kindergarten enrolments for 2026 and are happy to let our community know that letters will be sent out today for successful applications. As part of those letters, there are forward planning dates for transition opportunities in Term 4. We look forward to seeing all of our new students back with us at school later on in the year.

CHANGE TO OFFICE

TUESDAY 2ND SEPTEMBER

flowers_1.png

On Tuesday 2nd September in the afternoon, a number of our leaders, office staff and other school staff will be attending the funeral of our AP Mission Bec Cameron’s mum, who sadly passed away last week. We will have limited leaders and office staff from 1:30pm on Tuesday until the end of the day. If you could try to have messages that need to be sent out to children as early as possible, that would assist the office staff at the busy end of the day. All teachers who are attending the funeral will be replaced in the afternoon, so school will go on as usual.

MISSION

ACCENDERE - YEAR 4

Last Friday, Year 4 came together for Accendere. Accendere means to ignite a flame.

The Scripture theme for Accendere is:

‘And now I give you a new commandment: love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. If you have love for one another, then everyone will know that you are my disciples.’  John 13: 34-35

The students had lots of fun cycling through activities on the day, learning about what makes a good friend, how to be a good friend and how Jesus treated his friends. This culminated in all students writing a friendship pledge before sharing a Liturgy together.

We hope our students will benefit from this learning as they continue to nurture friendships, old and new.

NEXT FRIDAY .....

FATHER'S DAY @ ST PETER'S

We need 3 more helpers to assist with our ham and cheese croissant breakfast preparation from 7.00am Friday 5th September.

Thank you to these parents for volunteering already - Jodie Brindle, Simone Roods, Laura Harrison, Kyrstal Cerato, Emily Daley, Suzanne Cash and Jessica Cassegrain. Please email amanda.thomas@lism.catholic.edu.au if you can assist.

TELL THEM FROM ME PARENT SURVEY

YOUR FEEDBACK MATTERS

Thank you to all the 150 parents and carers who took part in our recent Tell Them From Me survey. Your honest feedback is invaluable in helping us improve our school community. Each week this term we will share some feedback from the data collated.

PARENTING STRATEGIES FOR CHILDREN WITH ADHD

We know parenting can be both rewarding and challenging, especially when supporting children with ADHD. Many families have shared their interest in learning practical strategies, so we’re excited to begin sharing a helpful resource each week in our newsletter.

These resources are designed to give parents tips, tools, and encouragement to support their children in positive and effective ways. For those keen to dive deeper, you’ll also find a fantastic collection of articles, podcasts, and guides on Maggie Dent’s website: Best Resources for Supporting Kids with ADHD.

Together, we can keep learning and supporting one another as a community.

LEARNING

YEAR 5 PUPPETS IN THE MAKING

Year 5 have begun creating their puppets and backdrops for their upcoming fractured fairy tales. In Drama this term, Year 5 students are writing their scripts inspired by traditional fairy tales. Year 5 students will perform their fractured fairy tales for Kindergarten, Year 1 and parents in Week 9.

SOLAR ENERGY IN YEAR 3

This Term, Year 3 have been learning about clean and renewable energy sources, including wind, water and solar energy. On Wednesday, we used the sun on the 27 degree day to cook a Mars Bar in our very own solar ovens. They were well-cooked and tasty! Stay tuned for more news on our renewable energy projects, which will be announced before the end of the Term.

PEER SUPPORT

PEER_SUPPORT.jpg

Today's Peer Support session focused on positive self talk. Children practised talking positively to themselves. The children also learnt about perseverance, which encourages them to keep trying in challenging situations. During the week encourage your child to use positive self talk and discuss some tricky and challenging situations where they might need to use perseverance skills, for example, learning a new skill, getting better at a sport, playing an instrument, maintaining friendships and challenging themselves in class.
