BOOK WEEK CELEBRATIONS

A huge thank you to our wonderful St Peter’s community for participating in our book week celebrations and fostering a love of reading in our students! In addition to our parade where students celebrated their favourite book characters, we had almost 450 students choose a new book from our book stall on Monday. These students were also entered into our raffle to win 1 of 7 prize packs comprising a Book Face voucher, signed Kate and Jol Temple book, travel journal, bookmark and stickers.

DYMOCKS CHILDREN'S CHARITIES FUNDRAISER

A total of $900.00 was raised through the purchase of the book packs which will be donated to Dymocks Children’s Charities who are a national not-for-profit organisation dedicated to improving literacy outcomes for disadvantaged children across Australia. As part of the organisation’s Library Boost Project, St Peter’s Primary will also be able to select a variety of books to the same value to add to our school library. Thank you for your generosity and support!

OTHER BOOK WEEK ACTIVITIES

Students were excited to show families around our adventure-book themed library display on Wednesday afternoon during our “open classroom” event and enjoy a selection of books including our Shortlisted CBCA books. Throughout the week, classes were also provided an opportunity to attend a series of live virtual author talks which were offered by a number of government organisations in celebration of book week.

Issue 6 brochures have now been distributed to students. Online L.O.O.P. orders will close at 9.00pm Wednesday 10th September.

NSW PREMIER’S READING CHALLENGE: 1 month remaining!

A friendly reminder that there is now 1 month until the Premier’s Reading Challenge (PRC) closes. All participants must have their online student reading records completed by 11:59pm on Friday 19th September so that validation can occur. Only students who have a completed and validated reading record will receive a PRC certificate.
