All About Sport!
We did it again!
I am very proud to announce we have been awarded another Sporting Schools Program grant for Term 4, 2020. The Term 4 grant of $3,500 will be another chance for Years 1, 2 and 3 to participate in a number of sports conducted by specialised coaches. If that wasn’t exciting enough, we received an extra grant of $1,000 for sporting equipment! The total amount of Sporting Schools grant money for 2020 is $11,500 !!!
COVID-19- What do the guidelines and restrictions mean for sport now?
The following now applies for Term 4 2020 Sport:
- Interschool sport and physical activity can recommence. This means that schools and students may now travel outside their local community.
- Zone carnivals (swimming, cross country, athletics), round robins and gala days involving more than one school, can also recommence.
- Students from different schools are permitted to mix while participating, but mixing of students should be limited when not participating.
- Students participating in weekly sport and physical activities, including recreational activities, where possible, are to remain within their regular cohort to limit the mixing of students between cohort groups.
- Selection trials for representative pathway events may now recommence.
- No parents or other spectators are permitted to attend activities held during the school day.

School Swimming Carnival
With the recent COVID-19 guidelines and restrictions for sport, unfortunately we wish to advise that our 2020 School Primary Swimming Carnival will only be for students who registered for the competitive event or events before the end of Term 3. A note went home this week for all competitive swimmers. All non competitive Year 3-6 students will remain at school for the day. This carnival will also act as our School Swimming Team trial for the 2021 Zone Swimming Carnival. I will film as much as possible and place it on our St Peter’s Sports page to keep you up to date during the day.
Girls League Tag kicks off
Well done to the 30 Year 5 and 6 girls who kicked off League Tag this week, it was just wonderful to witness. Lucy Randall and Josie Boys took the girls through their paces with every girl trying their very best. Training will continue on Mondays and Wednesdays at first lunch. In Week 4, we will kick off the Girls League Tag competition at St Peter’s.
League Gala Day has a new date
The League Gala Day which was scheduled in Term 3 will now be held on Tuesday November 10. Unfortunately due to COVID-19 guidelines and restrictions, it will be only open to Years 5 and 6. We are trying to organise an event for the Year 3 and 4 students given their section has been cancelled. We will keep you posted with any news.
Spring into Summer
A large number of St Peter’s staff have again been supporting “Spring into Summer”. The initiative supports St Agnes' Parish school families who are in need of some financial support to pay for certain school items. Last year, we had 33 staff at St Peter’s raise $990.00. This year, we are out to break $1000.00. We have staff undertaking the Camino Walk over 25 days and many more getting active and donating to an amazing cause.
