A VERY HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY
St Peter’s wishes all mothers, grandmothers, great-grandmothers and the wonderful people who fulfil this role, the happiest Mother’s Day for this Sunday.
We pray and acknowledge the wonderful sacrifices that mothers make in sharing their unconditional love.
Our celebration was even more of a highlight this year after not being able to hold our 2020 celebration.
Thank you to children and staff, who shared a reflective ‘lens’ into perhaps the longest serving role of humankind.
Thanks also to Mrs Cameron, Mrs Kalchbauer and Mrs Morris for their enthusiasm and dedication in coordinating these occasions supporting our family reconnection.
OUR MOTHER’S DAY STALL
A huge thank you to Kate Perkins, Kaylie Davis and Peta Clancy who organised and ran our Mother’s Day stall on Thursday, along with their helpers Louise Hay, Lisa Wilton, Wayne Hudson and Jenny Wickham.
The children had a wonderful time selecting some lovely goodies, which will really personalise their special tribute to mums this Sunday.
Hope you enjoy!
Thank you ladies and gentleman you are marvelous.

PROCLAIM LISMORE 2021 - STAFFS’ FAITH DEVELOPMENT DAY
Most staff in Catholic schools in the Lismore Diocese engaged in a Staff Development Day on Wednesday, 5th May. This day has been a progressive initiative of the Catholic Schools Office, called for by the Bishop and entrusted with the purpose of enhancing and strengthening the foundations of Catholic culture in Catholic Education in the Diocese of Lismore.
Thank you families for your continuing support of this valuable day where we focus on the importance of our Catholic culture into the future.
NAPLAN WEEK
Naplan testing in Year 3 and Year 5 will be completed next week on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The results of the tests provide important information to schools about student learning and Data which assists schools in developing future focus areas to help build the capacity of our learners. Please try to avoid any appointments/interruptions during these times: See LEARNING article below.
DIOCESE OF LISMORE SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT SURVEY - DOLSIS
The Lismore Catholic Schools Office has made a decision earlier this year to not continue the DOLSIS initiative which has run for the past number of years. In the past surveys were sent out to 100 families, provided to Year 3–6 students and staff.
There will be other opportunities however, for families to provide feedback related to St Peter’s culture and effectiveness as a learning community.
This is a very important part of our school development and annual goal setting and we look forward to creating family and staff feedback forums as the year progresses.
MISSION
Mother’s Day Prayer
Marvelous Mums
We had an absolute ball celebrating Mother’s Day at St Peter’s today, with each grade planning and presenting a special Mother’s Day tribute at assembly. It was so lovely to be able to welcome our mums and carers to school this afternoon to show our appreciation for everything they do by offering a special treat. To all the special ladies in our lives, Happy Mother’s Day!
Save Your Socks!
Rotary is attempting to break the existing world record for the “Longest Washing Line of Socks,” and have asked for our help! They are planning to build a washing line ten kilometres long and peg to it at least 100,000 socks!
They are asking us to clean out our sock drawers and bring into school any old, worn or lonely socks. Sovereign Place Town Centre has sponsored the club with $15,000 donated already, and a promise of a further $15,000 if they manage to break the record! Four local charities will benefit. Please send in any socks you can find by Friday 28th May in order to help Rotary achieve this amazing 'feet'!
LEARNING
NAPLAN ONLINE 2021 - STARTS NEXT TUESDAY
NAPLAN tests the sorts of skills that are essential for every child to progress through school and life, such as reading, writing, spelling, grammar and numeracy. It is important to remember that NAPLAN is not about passing or failing, but about assessing learning progress. At the classroom level it is one of a number of important tools used by teachers to measure student progress. This year our children will be completing their NAPLAN online.
NAPLAN Online will provide better assessment, more precise results and faster turnaround of information. The assessments can run through a real-time internet connection or onscreen without an internet connection.
NAPLAN Online features ‘tailored testing’ which gives students questions that are more suited to their ability – resulting in better assessment and more precise results. This video will explain how it works. Naplan Video There is also NAPLAN Online public demonstration site that you can access at NAPLAN public demonstration Site

WE'RE TAKING IT IN OUR STRIDE
FRIDAY, 14 MAY 2021
Walk Safely to School Day asks that we all consider our transport habits and try to incorporate more walking as part of a healthy, active way to get around. And although walking all the way to school isn't realistic for many of us, you can build a walk into your family's daily routine.
Regular exercise like walking with your child not only helps them (and you!) beat chronic problems like obesity, heart disease, behavioural and mental health issues and diabetes. It also gives you a great opportunity to teach your child safe ways to behave around roads and traffic. To help children develop vital road crossing skills children up to the age of 10 years should hold an adult's hand when crossing the road.
Remember, Active Kids are Healthy Kids so get planning your own Walk Safely to School Day journey for Friday 14 May 2021!

A bye week
A very quiet week on the sporting front after an extremely busy Week 2.
Rugby Union takes to the field
Mr Post has commenced training with our Rugby Union Team on a Monday and Tuesday on a weekly basis. The team is training for the Lismore Diocesan Union Gala Day on Thursday June 3, 2021 in Coffs Harbour. This will be a very tough day, as it’s always very competitive. If we are successful, we will then travel to Sydney and play in the State Final on Monday August 9, 2021. All students are asked to bring in their mouthguard and any other equipment that they would normally wear on the union field.
All Schools Rugby League
After our very successful outing last week at the Port Macquarie Rugby League Gala Day, we will now go into the draw to be selected to move on to the next level of the All Schools event. In previous years, it was the winner of the local day that moved on, however the NRL will now select one team from the northern area. I will let you know if we are the lucky school.
Rugby League- Independent and Catholic Schools event
We have entered into the Rugby League Independent and Catholic Schools event which will be a pathway event. I will provide details of the event in next week's Postman Pete.

With the assistance of Mr Fisher, students will be able to throw with fully marked shot put and discus lined areas.
