KINDER TOURS - POSTPONED THIS SATURDAY
The scheduled kindergarten tour for this Saturday at 9:30am has been postponed.
All families indicating they were attending, have been emailed.
If any families know of anyone else who was going to come along, could you please let them know the tour has been postponed and new tour dates will be communicated at the Kindergarten Parent evening on Tuesday, March 30.
JUNKYARD SMASHES IT!
Children and teachers returned from the Glasshouse on Thursday so excited about the sounds you can make from any object and from parts of your body.
There were many recounts of the very talented group of 4, who banged, clanged, knocked, tinkered, blew, scraped etc to create intriguing sounds and musical harmonies.
Thanks to Michelle Lawler for coordinating and staff for taking such an interest in fostering a really rich cultural opportunity for our little people.
FUN IN THE SUN FOR YEAR 1
The Blackman family must have developed valuable links with the Bureau of Meteorology, as they picked the perfect day (from a bank of overcast days) to bring Year 1 families together on Saturday.
A very large roll up of families appreciated the perfect conditions and the company of established and new families. We really appreciate Daniel and Madeline coordinating the day and the beautiful gift of the mid North Coast environment, which offers such a good place for families to embrace.
KINDER FAMILIES LINK UP FOR A SOCIAL SUNDAY
Our Kinder families held onto some early sunshine on Sunday, and many families enjoyed each other’s company and the children, as always, had a ball.
It is great to see so many families gathering together and building relationships, which can very easily last a life time.
I would like to particularly thank Kate and Patrick Cowan for organising the get together and creating a great opportunity for families to get to know each other and for our children to value the great gift of spending time playing out in the open.
UNIFORM UPDATE
As most families will be aware, the parish has been involved in an extended process reviewing each of our parish schools’ uniforms.
There will be a letter forwarded from the parish next week, which will provide progress at this point and the likely implementation for future change.
NOW BALD AND A LITTLE MORE BEAUTIFUL
Pip Hudson, Eli Hudson, Peter Field, Peter Duffy, Ruby Merritt, Ella Oliver and Jude Vasilescu, are all lockless after their beautiful tufts were cut in the plight to overcome cancer last weekend.
The 'Curl-less Crew' then went on to raise a large amount of money on Monday through a lolly jar guessing competition at lunch 1 and 2.
The expert estimator 'Charley McGuigan' (6 Blue) picked 785 !
There were 867 lollies in the jar.
Congratulations to all our children - the bald, the guessing organisers and the guessers - thank you for your wonderful efforts in supporting such a strong need within our community.

PARENTS AND FRIENDS SPECIAL and GENERAL MEETING
Wednesday saw a 'special' P&F Meeting followed by the regular General Meeting.
The 'special' meeting was conducted to discuss whether an AGM was required or whether P&F members were supportive of retaining the Office Bearers from 2020 as there were no official meetings following the AGM last year. The meeting unanimously voted to retain office bearers from 2020:
- President – Bec Eakin
- Vice President – Sarah Dahlenburg
- Secretary – Prue Thompson
- Assistant Secretary – Daniel Blackman - (new appointment)
- Treasurer – Kim Goldie
- Assistant Treasurer – Judith Lacey
- Main Event coordinators – Kate Perkins and Kaylie Davis
It was great to see another good roll up of families to the meeting and we look very forward to working with the leadership team and continuing the valued work of the P&F through our family community.
The next meeting in April, will look at an event(s), that will help build our spirit of community and possibly offer some fundraising opportunities.
If you have any ideas or would like to help out with prospective opportunity, please come along and offer your support.
NOT EVERYONE’S BEST FRIEND
A reminder to families that no matter how beautiful and friendly we know our dogs can be, some of our little people have anxiety around the company of dogs.
For this reason, we ask families to not bring any dogs into the school unless it is organised with your child’s classroom teacher as a news sharing or special visit.
BAND INVITE
Our band warmly welcomes associated families to come along next Thursday morning (25th March) and check out how they are progressing.
Frank Rugers and our band tutors are very proud of the progress the children are showing individually and as a collective.
It has been a long time since families have had an opportunity to observe the children playing in the band.
Please feel welcome to come in between 8:15am and 8:45am when the band will be going through their paces.
Parents are requested to sign in at the office and wear a visitors sticker prior to walking down to the hall.

COLOURS for Caritas
On Wednesday our wonderful Year 6 students hosted our annual Lenten fundraiser for Project Compassion, COLOURS for Caritas Day. Our school was a riot of colour with students and staff wearing bright colours for a gold coin donation. The Year 6 students planned and organised a variety of activities and stalls for their younger schoolmates, running them during their morning break for the price of a silver coin. I am always amazed at how such a huge event comes together so smoothly, with the Year 6 students and teachers creating a fantastic experience for the rest of St Peter’s! A great big congratulations and thank you to the whole Year 6 team!
We RAISED:
Prayer Boxes in the Classroom | $143.00 |

Penance Reflection
This week the students in Years 4 and 5 were joined by the Year 9 Youth Ministry Class from MacKillop for an afternoon of reflection in preparation for making their Sacrament of Penance next week. We keep these children in our prayers as they take this next step in their sacramental journey.

Christ has no body but yours,
No hands, no feet on earth but yours,
Yours are the eyes with which he looks
Compassion on this world,
Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good,
Yours are the hands, with which he blesses all the world.

Benmar Farm Visit Year 6
The fantastic female farming force of Karyn and Carissa from Benmar Farm visited our Year Six students on Monday. Each year, these farmers give up their time to share their experience of dairy farming and deep knowledge of sustainable farming practices with our students. Year Six are looking at Farming for the Future in Science this term, and everyone walked away with a greater understanding of many new things about dairy cows and farming for the future. As a follow up to the talk and their learning about sustainable farming practices, Year Six will be making automated watering machines to help efficiently water plants. This is the third year of having Benmar Farm working with Year Six, it is great to know where our food comes from- Benmar Farm is one of only four farms to supply to Norco Organic milk.
Show, Don’t Tell Me!
This term, Year Six have a focus on composing and presenting imaginative texts to transport their audiences. They have been working hard in their writing, to focus on tightening tension, and creating a vivid picture in their reader’s minds. They have been looking at showing the reader, not telling them. In groups, students wrote a collaborative piece on the topic of FOOD FIGHTS! And the results are phenomenal! We think that you will agree that they have definitely painted very vivid pictures of the catastrophe of a food fight breaking out at school.

They’re racing!
A huge well done to all students at our recent School Cross Country event. The day welcomed back families and it was so good to see. We have missed families greatly, and your child/children loved you being at the event. We trust your child and or children had a wonderful time getting out and active. Cross Country is a tough sport and every child had a go and gave their very best.
Congratulations to our House Leaders who were outstanding. They supported all students and inspired many to get to that finish line. Thank you also to all staff who prepared the students well (given so much wet weather). The day also formed our School Cross Country team, and notes went home today.

Update: Lismore Dio Winter Sports Update
ALL Winter Sports in Grafton have been postponed on 19TH MARCH
NEW DATE FRIDAY 26TH MARCH
All grounds in Grafton are closed (grass fields) and if the weather forecast is correct there is more rain to follow.
So:
- Rugby Union is postponed until term 2 due to the fact that the Polding trials are towards the end of the term. The venue will remain at Grafton.
- Due to ground closures both football (soccer) and rugby league (opens/under11's) have been postponed until Friday 26th March. Please note that under 11's rugby league will be transferred to Rushforth Park where the soccer is.
- Netball and hockey will also be postponed due to the fact that there is a good amount of rain (possibly storms) forecast for Friday.
Our Girls shoot for the stars
Two netball teams competed at the All Schools Netball Day last Wednesday. The girls displayed their beautiful PBS values throughout the day and played really well together. A big thank you to Miss McKenzie and Miss Dal Santo for training a large group of girls over a number of weeks, and giving them the opportunity to play. Also a thank you to Mrs Denham (MacKillop College) who supported St Peter’s with umpires.

It was a very busy day with lots of other activities to distract the children. Thanks also to the teachers as the children were able to try some different vegetables and hopefully help encourage good eating habits.

It’s Time to Talk About Vivo Rewards!
The PBS Team has been working hard over the term to get more studnet input into the types of rewards on offer from the Online Vivo Store. We felt that our Stage 3 students in particular, were ready for some fresh motivatorrs. The students were surveyed and we are excited to let you know about some of the newest rewards on offer.
- Feel like you’re always running out of time to finish your ice-cup at lunch? Now you can save time by jumping the queue at ice cups!
- You can now also use your vivos to come to school completely ‘Out of Uniform’ for the day. Or if you’re a big fan of the sports uniform, you might like to spend your hard earned Vivos to wear that every day for a whole week!
- Another exciting option is our new Technology Lunch, which will occur twice a term. If you wish to spend your Vivos on this, then you will have the option to play on devices during lunch time.
- You might like to cash in your points to have a very special lunch eating with Mr Leary. We hear he has some great jokes and has very generously offered some pizza on the menu as well. This is only available to the first 10 people so make sure you get in quick!
- Pinch the teacher’s chair has been one of the most popular options at our Vivo shop. But what if you don’t like the look of your teachers chair? Now you have the option of choosing any chair of your choice!
Here is a little motivational dance about having confidence in yourself from some of St Peter’s youngest PBS Advocates. Thanks to Tahlia Merrett-Sivell, Halle Colthorpe, Chloe Barn and Audrina Stone for your wonderful PBS Spirit. We hope to have the whole school singing 'Wings' by Little Mix and dancing in no time.

School Scrunchies-Calling those with sewing skills!
As a new reward to our Vivo Prize System, the students have expressed interest in being able to purchase school coloured scrunchies (to match the summer or winter uniform, but particularly the green and white check pattern) from the online Vivo Store.
Are there any sewers out there, who would be willing to make some of these?
Please get in touch with the PBS Team through the office if you would like to help out.
Thanks very much.

Have you ever wanted to do an on-line faith-based course that is of good quality, time convenient and cost effective, and didn’t know where to go?
Recently, the Lismore Diocese, along with over 100 dioceses world-wide including four others in Australia, entered into a partnership with the Virtual Learning Community for Faith Formation (VLCFF) at the University of Dayton. This gives everyone within the Lismore Diocese, whether school parent, parishioner, volunteer or paid worker, access to over 100 good quality on-line courses, which are time convenient and cost effective.
If you are wanting to do a course of your choosing and interest, in only three to five weeks, at a cost of approximately $A65, in leadership, catechesis, Catholic doctrine, church history, ecclesiology, ministry, Marian studies, liturgy, sacraments, prayer, morality, scripture, social justice, special needs, spirituality, youth ministry or other annual topics, then visit the VLCFF page through the Our Faith tab of the St Agnes’ Catholic Parish Port Macquarie website for further information.
