OPEN SCHOOL MASS
We were finally able to come together today for our Opening School Mass and badging ceremony, which had been postponed due to Cyclone Alfred. It was uplifting to hear the whole school join together to worship in song, pray for our school year, celebrate being a community and officially welcome our school leaders for 2025. Thank you to Fr Alejo for presiding today, all of our families and friends who were able to join us, and the Mission Team for their work in preparing today’s Mass.
YEAR 6 LEADERS CONGRATULATIONS
We acknowledge and congratulate our 2025 Year 6 School Leaders, who have already made a positive impact in their leader positions and by being models of our values and expectations to all students. It was special to see proud parents and carers with us for Mass today.

MANAGING CONCERNS
From time to time parents/carers' concerns and questions will arise. As per our policy, parents/carers are to address these concerns by contacting their child's teacher. It is only after this step is taken that concerns are to be raised with an Assistant Principal or the Principal. You can read more by following the link to the policies page on our school website: 10 MANAGING CONCERNS
Parent and Caregiver Concerns and Complaints Procedures
10.1 Any parent or caregiver has a responsibility to promptly raise the concern with the person best placed to deal with the concern so that these do not become overwhelming for either the child or the family.
10.2 Where the parent or caregiver concern is not satisfactorily resolved directly with the school staff member involved, the matter should be taken up with other appropriate school staff in suitable positions of responsibility. In primary schools this may be the Assistant Principal or Principal.
MISSION
RECONCILIATION
Next week, over 30 students from St Peter’s will join other children in the St Agnes’ Parish to make their Sacrament of First Reconciliation. The week will start with a special Retreat Day for all of Year 4, where the children will participate in learning, praying and celebrating God’s love and forgiveness.
The candidates will then attend one of three Reconciliation Ceremonies at St Agnes’ Church on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings to complete the sacrament. Thank you to the teachers, parents and Mission Team for helping our children prepare for this sacrament. Please keep our Reconciliation Candidates in your prayers as they prepare for this special step in their sacramental journey.

LEARNING
KINDY INVESTIGATION TIME

In Kindy, we have been having so much fun exploring our new Investigation Time! Each morning for half an hour, our Kindy students immerse themselves in hands-on investigations that are carefully linked to curriculum outcomes. These inspiring provocations encourage curiosity, creativity and critical thinking, making learning both meaningful and enjoyable.
Research shows that learning through play fosters positive attitudes towards learning, setting the foundation for success at school and skills for lifelong learning. During Investigation Time, children develop essential skills such as self-regulation, language, cognition, problem-solving and social competence. It is a time when emerging skills can be practiced and consolidated through exploration, creation and design.
Our provocations are intentionally designed to promote higher-order thinking while aligning with key curriculum outcomes. Whether they are building structures, engaging in role-play, experimenting with materials or investigating new concepts, our Kindy students are developing a love for learning that will stay with them for years to come.
We look forward to seeing the continued growth and excitement as our young learners engage in learning each day!

ENHANCING SPORT THROUGH FAITH
For many, sports can be viewed as a gift from God, offering intrinsic and instrumental value and a platform to glorify God through talent, effort, and good sportsmanship.
WHEN GREATNESS COMES TO TOWN !!
Yesterday was a very exciting day, as our all-time equal-capped NSW State Representative Ben Adams came back to the mighty St Peter’s after 14 years. Although I taught Ben briefly, it was such a highlight to have staff catch up with him and chat about the past as well as his journey over the years. I listened intently and saw the joyful smiles as Mrs Grant, Mrs Mowle, Miss Robson, Mrs Kipreotis and Mr Post, who taught Ben, had wonderful discussions. I then took Ben to the Don Farrell Hall, where his banner is on display for the St Peter’s community to be inspired by his sporting achievements. As I walked Ben into the hall, he was amazed by the state championship banners and the Polding framed photographs and honour boards. He spoke about seeing the photographs spread out throughout the old library and was hoping for something to celebrate our amazing sporting achievements since 1993. He also saw his brothers Tom and Jack on the honour board and in photographs and saw many of his school peers. With us was Jai Davis, who is also a two-time NSW Representative. Ben was very inspirational in speaking to Jai and wished him all the best for a three-beat and to become the greatest capped NSW State Representative at St Peter’s. Finally, we walked over to his banner, where he was overwhelmed by what he saw. He was very proud to have been a St Peter’s student, and I thanked him for what he‘d achieved.
FIT CLUB
We are so fortunate at the mighty St Peter’s to have staff who give up so much to assist our students. Fit Club is one area where Miss Fowler and Mrs Kipreotis run a Fit Club Program on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday commencing at 8.15am from the Year 3 eating area. The numbers at Fit Club are amazing, with most days seeing 75 students in attendance. The program has huge benefits, including encompassing physical health, mental well-being, and social development, including improved cardiovascular fitness, bone health, and reduced risk of obesity, as well as enhanced focus, confidence, and social skills.
FROM LITTLE THINGS, BIG THINGS GROW
What was once an activity with Year 4 students has now turned into a massive activity at playtime. Near the Year 4 area, students have the opportunity to participate using hula hoops and skipping ropes. I now put out over 40 Hula Hoops and 30 skipping ropes, and they are all being used by students. In many cases, it has allowed students to become even more active during playtime. We have even had celebrity hula hoopers, as we have seen Oliver McNeil (School Captain) and Abby Zerafa (Year 4) show off their amazing hula hoop skills by using 5 hoops at one time.

This week students celebrated Harmony Week in the St Peter’s Library. As part of our celebrations, students were able to borrow from a wide variety of books on display that focused on diversity, acceptance and inclusion. Students also had an opportunity to contribute towards our Harmony Week display by completing a “harmony day hand” as a way of celebrating the diversity within our school. It was wonderful to see numerous children engaged in this activity and to witness the display grow over the week as students shared their unique and individual contributions that form part of our St Peter’s school community.

NATIONAL FAMILY READING MONTH
2025 marks the 29th year of the Scholastic National Family Reading Month (NFRM) which encourages families to read together on a regular basis to create strong reading habits. Most of us know how important reading together is and its long-term value to our children’s success in school and life. However, we also know it is not always easy to put into practice with our busy schedules and increasing competition with screen time.
The NFRM 31-Day Challenge aims to create positive, long lasting reading habits and lifelong readers by inspiring families to read together for a minimum of 10 minutes each day throughout the month of May.
For families wishing to find out more about the NFRM and how to register for the 31-Day Challenge, please visit: National Family Reading Month
Families that register before the end of March will go in the running to win 1 of 50 free book packs valued at $150!
