WELCOME TO THE 2025 SCHOOL YEAR
What a joyful morning we had on Thursday with our Years 1-6 students returning to school. With the welcome sign, bubbles, music and happy staff greeting our students, we hope that the beginning was as fun for all of you as it was for us. We are ready to welcome our Kindergarten students and their families on Monday and can’t wait to have our whole community in their learning spaces. A big thank you to Mrs Thomas who always gets our year off to a great start with the welcome space and morning tea for those new to our community.
SCHOOL CONNECTION
We are very much looking forward to the year ahead with many opportunities to connect with families along the learning journey. Please make sure you are connected to our two sources of information for all things school;
- The Compass App
- The Weekly Newsletter - "Postman Pete"
WELCOME TO OUR NEW FAMILIES FOR 2025
We also welcome a number of new families to St Peter’s in 2025 from our Year 1-6 groups and look forward to them being part of our community: Rony, Parrish, Scott, Daley, Wheate, Caruso, Garvin, Barnett, Barrow, Priestly, Siviour, Vella, Tanner and Reambonanza.
SCHOOL UNIFORM
With the start of a new year, comes the reminder of our school uniform expectations. In our family handbook (refer to page 20) are the uniform requirements which ensure we have consistency and a sense of pride in our school. While we understand that children like to express their individuality, we expect that they are wearing the correct uniform at all times. In the event that something is lost or extenuating circumstances, we appreciate an explanation to ensure there is a reason we can support you with. There will on occasion be children with medical needs that require an adjustment, and we ask that students and families understand this is not a case of not following the expectations.
There has been some confusion about shoes in conversations as we start school so we reinforce that joggers of colours other than black are only worn on sports and PE days if necessary. On every other day, students are expected to wear black polishable shoes (can be joggers if they meet this requirement) with no other colours, keeping in line with our parish schools uniform.
If parents have already purchased new shoes for the year, as long as they are all black in colour, we will allow this until the next shoe purchase when they will need to meet this requirement.
NEW FAMILIES WELCOME MORNING TEA
We welcomed new families in Years 1-6 with a morning tea on Thursday this week.
On Monday 10th February, Kinder families are invited to stay for a morning tea from 8:45am in the Staffroom (entry is via Leary’s Lane near the back entry gate near the crossing).
PARENT YEAR LEVEL REPRESENTATIVES
SEEKING VOLUNTEERS
Each year there is a parent or small group of parents that represent a year level family group. We are seeking parent volunteers to nominate for this role in 2025. Parent representatives assist to foster Family/School partnerships in these ways:
- supportive of positive communication between home and school and school events
- organisation of 2 social events a year for families to build relationships
- regularly give parent voice at our Parent Community Group meetings (usually held once a Term)
Please email your interest to amanda.thomas@lism.catholic.edu.au

St Peter's IT Student User Agreement 2025
At St Peter's Primary School, we prioritise responsible and safe digital citizenship. To foster this, we use a variety of digital technologies to support and enhance engagement and creativity within learning.
To ensure a shared understanding of our expectations, all students and their parents must sign a Digital Technology Student User Agreement each year. This agreement outlines the expectations for using digital technologies within our school and informs parents how digital technologies are managed and supported within our school and across the Diocese.
Please take the time to read through and sign the Digital Technologies User Agreement for 2025, with your child. The form will be sent to all families via Compass, on Monday 10 February and is due for completion by Friday 7 March 2025.
THIS AGREEMENT MUST BE COMPLETED FOR YOUR CHILD TO CONTINUE TO USE DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY @ ST PETER'S.
Please note: A new form is to be submitted for each child at our school. We ask that you use your child’s name as per Compass - first and last name only.
School commences at 8.45am
Please have your child at school before 8.45am, so that bags are unpacked. Habitual late arrival causes disruption to teacher, class and the student.
Continual late arrivals also cause a loss of valuable school lesson time.

Fruit Break | Class break during morning session |

IMPORTANT Reminders for Parents and Carers -
- ALL Late arrivals MUST be signed in by a parent or carer. Parents can then be sure that their children have arrived safely to school. Parents/carers not signing late children in at the office will be contacted.
- If your child is away, it is important that you reply to the absence SMS sent. On the day of absence - When responding please click on the link in the text message and give a clear and precise explanation for your child's absence.
- For family holidays longer than 10 consective and/or cumulative days during school time, all parents/carers must complete an Extended Leave Notification Form 01 (located on our website under "Our School" tab, in Policies ) and provide a copy of the itinerary.

WEEKLY BORROWING
It was wonderful to welcome all students back to St Peter’s this week and we are very much looking forward to them commencing their 2025 borrowing next week!
A timetable for class borrowing sessions is included here to assist parents with preparing their children for their allocated library borrowing session.
Children are also welcome to borrow on any day Mon-Thurs if they are avid readers, or were away on their usual day/time.
Book Care
We often receive returned books that are damaged and whilst we understand that accidents do happen, a sturdy waterproof bag or zippered folder is required when transporting books to/from school to help keep our precious library books safe from damage and loss.
If you do notice that your child’s book is damaged or missing, please get in touch with the school so that we can make arrangements to repair or replace the book where necessary.
In some instances books can be repaired however in cases where water-damage has occurred, books often need to be replaced due to mould ingress. Leaky drink bottles are a common culprit so having a waterproof library bag, replacing leaky drink bottles as needed, and even keeping drink bottles in a separate side pocket (where possible) can assist in preventing water-damage.
In accordance with our school library policy, borrowers are responsible for the safe and timely return of borrowed items and consequently the replacement cost for books that are damaged beyond repair or are missing for extended periods will be billed to your child’s school account.
