Semester 2 Student Progress Reports
This afternoon, student reports for Semester 2 will be made accessible to parents through the Compass portal. We encourage you to share this with your child/ren and celebrate the successes of the year, which are represented throughout the report in what they “can do”. There are also goals that their teachers identified as a focus for them into their next year of school. Having read each report, I am proud of the way in which students have engaged in learning this year and are looking ahead to ways in which they can strive to improve further. There are no formal interviews taking place in Week 10, but if you do wish to speak to your child’s teacher, please do so by contacting them directly.
Staffing for 2025
We are fortunate to have a wonderful staff, dedicated to caring for and enabling students to learn. Please find here a list of staff who will be at St Peter’s in 2025.
We will welcome a new Leader of Pedagogy, Mrs Vanessa Baywood, who comes to us from extensive experience in multiple systems and roles. We will introduce her to you officially in 2025, but we know you will make her welcome.
Classes for 2025
At our transition session on Monday 16th December, students will get to know their teachers and peers for 2025. This is a great opportunity for students to spend time in their classes and with their teachers for 2025, so that as they head to holidays, they will know what to expect at the start of the year.
Farewells to Staff
We acknowledged in a special way this week Mrs Cathy Matheson (AKA Mrs Math) and Mrs Robyn Hodgson (AKA Mrs H), who are retiring. Mrs Math has served our school from its very beginning as a dedicated parent and in her own words 22 years ago, “then I started getting paid to do it”. Mrs H has served our school for the past 9 years and has loved every moment of it. Both of these wonderful ladies have cared for a multitude of children and their lives are the richer for it. We thank them for their service and wish them well in retirement. But don’t worry, they will stay in touch and you may just see them helping out around the school when they have some spare time.
We also quietly thanked other staff members who won’t be with us all of the time in 2025, but will continue to work with us in a casual capacity. Thank you to Mrs Amy Packer, Mrs Kathy Gilmour and Mrs Jo-Anne Elliott for their service to our students and school. We look forward to seeing them around with us next year.
Fiji Teachers Visit
We were fortunate to connect with MacKillop College to support a cultural visit organised by Mr Peter Murphy, that entailed several teachers from Fiji coming to see what learning looks like in our school. They were accompanied by their Priest, who saw what Parish life looks like for us too. They walked around our classrooms and took notes on things they observed and interacted with our students. While it was only a short visit, we look forward to future connections. We did find out during our introductions, that they come from a school of Kindergarten to Year 8 with 900 students! Even more eye opening was the insight that their class sizes are 40 students.
The Week That Was….
As you will read throughout this week’s newsletter, there are many amazing activities and events that have taken place this week; Accendere with Year 4, Years 3 and 4 Pantomime, Farewells to our retiring LAs, PBS Reward Day and Sports Assembly. I would like to acknowledge the incredible staff who make all of these things happen and share our appreciation for how these activities enrich the lives of our students. It was wonderful to see many visitors sharing this time with us.

LEARNING
Year 6 2024: One Final Week of Learning!
The moment has arrived! Year 6 class of 2024 are entering their final week at St Peter’s, marking the culmination of nearly 7,000 hours of learning and growth. This week, they enjoyed a special celebration with their Kindergarten buddies, exchanging heartfelt letters and cherished memories. We wish Year 6 2024 every success as they embark on the next exciting chapter of their educational journey!
Year 2’s Amazing Twits Stories
Year 2 have been reading The Twits by Roald Dahl and exploring the author's use of wordplay and description. In the story, Mr. and Mrs. Twit play mean and horrible tricks on each other, and we have planned and created a chapter for the book with new tricks for The Twits to play on each other. Click on the link below to read some dastardly tricks from 2 Green. Enjoy!
Yesterday's PBS Rewards Day was a big hit! Students came dressed in something beginning with the letter ‘S’ and enjoyed a Silent Disco and a Snow Cone. There were Snakes and Superheroes, Santas and Soccer players. Congratulations to all the Saint Peter’s students on a positive year. Enjoy the pictures!

ENHANCING SPORT THROUGH FAITH
It may be a surprise to you, but sport is part of God’s good gift of creation. Sure, human beings are the ones who invent sports, but where does our playfulness come from? The creativity, the desire for human relationships, and the instinctive desire to play that all people, of all ages, across all cultures have, are all part of what it means to be made in the image of God (Genesis 1:27).
God is the Creator and so being made in his image makes us creative with the talents to strike a ball, see a pass, or swim quickly. Equally, God is a relational God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and so our desire to play with others pushing them on in competition comes from him. Sport is not some area outside of God’s good creation, it is an integral part of it, a gift to be enjoyed to his glory.
Thank you!
As we press the siren on sport for 2024, I wish to thank our awesome House Captains for 2024. Their enthusiasm and support of all at St Peter’s has been a pleasure to witness. The House Captain’s role is challenging and demanding, and much is done behind the scenes. This year, House Captains have again been proactive and always wanting to give back, and be positive role models. Thank you so much Brody, Madeline, Asher, James, Ivy and Polly for again ensuring the role of House Captains was done with pride and honour in 2024.
Annual Sports Assembly
Today, we held our annual Sports Awards. This day is a special time, as it celebrates all things sports at the mighty St Peter’s. This was also an opportunity to acknowledge our Polding and NSW Representatives in 2024.
A huge congratulations to all our 513 athletes, and in particular Nixon Smith (Athletics), Jai Davis (Athletics and Rugby League), Amaya Davis (Cross Country), Cruze Alley (Cross Country), Steele Cottom (AFL), Joshua Harris (Cricket), Joseph Gornall (Golf) and Hunter Pociask (Athletics) on your wonderful sporting achievements.
Jai joins the best of the best
After representing NSW at a National Championship for the 2nd time, Jai now joins Ben Adams as the most capped NSW State Representative in the history of this amazing school. Congratulations Jai on yet again becoming a NSW State Athlete.
Staff V Year 6 Students
The Staff V Year 6 Students Sporting Event is a time-honoured tradition at St Peter’s. The event is a huge amount of fun and a fitting way to end sport for our Year 6 students. In all my time at St Peter’s, Staff have never been beaten. From basketball, netball, minor games, and to this year a game of volleyball. The staff have been training hard to be ready for the challenge. Families are more than welcome to come along and cheer and support the event.
2025 Sport… 56 more sleeps!
Pathway sport has officially ended for 2024, and what a year it has been. Sport at St Peter’s is a 24/7 job, and although the siren has sounded for 2024, we are well underway in planning Pathway Sport for 2025!
It Runs in the Family!
Oliver McNeil (Year 5) and his mother, Elise, have begun their martial arts journey at Mid Coast Martial Arts Academy. On Sunday, 24 November, both excelled during their grading. Oliver achieved a major milestone with his first-ever grading, while Elise, returning to martial arts, delivered an exceptional performance. Well done Oliver and Elise and it is wonderful to see families getting out and active together.
TERM 4 .... The Road Ahead
Week 10 | Monday | Peter's Staff V Year 6 Students - Volleyball Match commencing @ 2.10 pm (All Families are welcome to attend) |
Puppet Show Performances
The Year 1 students were captivated by the Year 5 puppet shows, which showcased impressive creativity and teamwork. The Year 5 students took on the challenge of designing and crafting their own puppets, props, and backdrops, all while writing their scripts. The result was a truly immersive and engaging experience that delighted the younger students while giving the Year 5 students an opportunity to apply their artistic and writing skills in a fun and collaborative way.
Pantomime Performances
It was a fantastic experience for the Year 3 and Year 4 students to perform for an audience of students, teachers, and parents, showcasing everything they had learned about pantomimes this term. In just 9 short weeks, St Peter’s RFF teachers, alongside Steph and Tim from Got Ya Back Productions, guided the entire grades through script and dance routines, ensuring every student had a role and actively participated. The performance was a true reflection of the students' and their teachers' hard work and dedication, creating a memorable and enjoyable experience for everyone involved. A special shout-out to Will Furney in Year 4 for his valuable contributions to the script development.

Please note that library borrowing has ceased for the year and all books are now due to be returned. Thank you to all students and families that have returned our school library books. Students have been advised of any outstanding loans. Could I please ask that families assist students in locating and returning any outstanding items. Please feel free to get in contact if there are any concerns.
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!
This week our Hogwarts themed library received some Christmas sparkle for our students to enjoy…
CROCHET CLUB
This term in the library, Year 5 students were invited to participate in “Crochet Club” where they had the opportunity to learn a few basic crochet stitches and make their very own bookmark! For many students this was their first time attempting to crochet and all students displayed patience, determination and resilience in learning this tricky skill. Well done!
