COLOUR EXPLOSION RUN + FATHER'S DAY
What a wonderful community gathering for our Colour Explosion and Father’s Day event today. We love every opportunity to have families involved in special occasions and today was no exception. What a great fun afternoon with many dads and father figures today being celebrated! We wish all dads and father figures in our children’s lives a special day on Sunday. This is a chance to celebrate the invaluable role you play in their lives. As the event was this afternoon, we will have photos in next week’s newsletter - don’t forget to check them out!
We offer a special thanks to Impact Prints - Personalise with Impact for their assistance in organising the leather key ring gift for dads today. Impact Prints is a family owned business (Skylah Fernandes family from Year 4), that specialises in corporate logo debossing and branding. Personalisation on high quality leather accessories is what they do best.THANK YOU TO SOME SPECIAL PARENT HELPERS
KATE PERKINS AND KAYLIE DAVIS
Have you ever wondered how those magical Mother’s and Father’s Day stalls come to be and who is behind the organisation of these events? We value the contributions of all of the parents who support school events and give their time to add the special touches that make us all smile. If you are new to St Peter’s, you may not know Kate Perkins and Kaylee Davis, but they have been the organisers of the Mother’s and Father’s Day stalls for a number of years. We will be very sad to say goodbye to them when they leave our school with their children going into highschool, but want to make sure they know how much we appreciate all they have done. We will present to Kate and Kaylee a gift of thanks at Monday morning prayer and assembly next week but we want to publicly acknowledge them and their contributions. Thank you to other parents who have already offered to be part of continuing this lovely tradition next year.

'DEALING WITH SCHOOL ANXIETY'
This webinar explains why school anxiety happens and why anxiety isn’t the problem, but how our response can cause trouble for our children. It also highlights three things that helps our kids stay connected to their education and is a highly worthwhile listen for all parents of ALL school aged children. Listen at your leisure for free until the 11th of September.
LEARNING
The image says it all really. Thank you to all our Learning Assistants, Teachers and all staff for the things that you do each and every day to strive for equity and justice at St Peter’s.

They got a bit messy last Friday when conducting their slime experiments. Check out the students' great teamwork and slime creations in these photos:
RHYTHM TO RECOVERY DRUMMING
GET FIT !
It's also a fantastic way to get active and stay healthy! When you drum, you're not only having a blast but also giving your body a good workout. Studies show that just half an hour of drumming can burn around 270.4 calories—that's like taking a brisk walk or playing your favourite sport! But it's not just about calories. Drumming is also great for reducing stress and making you feel awesome. When you groove to the beat, your mind relaxes, and you can forget about any worries. It's like a mini vacation for your brain!
LIFELONG LEARNING
As you progress in your drumming journey, you'll find that it enhances your life in many ways. It boosts your creativity, improves your coordination, and even helps you stay focused. The best part is, that there's always room to grow and improve. Whether you're practicing at home, performing on stage, or jamming with friends, every moment spent drumming is a chance to become the best musician you can be.

AFL STATE FINALS
This week, our AFL Team had an incredible experience at the AFL Paul Kelly Cup State Final. Playing on GWS Stadium in Sydney it came down to the best 8 AFL Primary schools in the State. In pristine conditions, the team was very excited, but nervous about what they would expect. The team gave their all in a very competitive event. We won our first game against MacKillop College and had 2 close losses to finish 3rd and 6th in the State. An amazing event by the team. Thank you so much families for your wonderful support of your child. It has certainly been a journey and one memory that our students will never forget.

OUR YEAR 5 - A4 ART FINALISTS
Oliver M High Commended Artwork: Spiral Creator Being a coder is an incredibly rewarding experience, as it allows me to explore the limitless possibilities of the digital realm and express my creativity in marvellous ways. Spiral Creator is a tool that I made that has completely revolutionised the way I approach digital art. With 26 lines of code, this tool can generate hundreds of thousands of unique designs within seconds with each one more fantastic than the last. |

Indi M Highly Commended Artwork- Pointe I do dance and I have been really into pointe recently so I painted pointe shoes. |
Bradley B Artwork - Watchman My artwork is called Watchman. I named it ‘Watchman’ because I thought about drawing an interesting watch on a hand. I drew veins and the bow extended outwards as lightning bolts. The watch is a Rolex Rainbow Daytona. To me, the watch represents lightning fast time travel as it has multiple time and date functions which traverse across time at lightning speed. |

Maisie P Artwork - The Night Owl When I was a baby I never slept and I stayed awake all night. I would like to stay up late. Never slept, never will. I am the night-owl!

INDIGENOUS LITERACY DAY FUNDRAISER
THURSDAY 5TH SEPTEMBER
Indigenous Literacy Day (Wednesday 4th September) is an annual celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples’ Stories, Cultures, and Languages organised by the Indigenous Literacy Foundation (ILF) in collaboration with the Sydney Opera House.
As part of these celebrations, St Peter’s will be holding a book stall between 8:00am - 8:45am Thursday 5th September during our scheduled “Parent Cuppa & Chat” in Leary’s Lane.
Families will have the opportunity to purchase from a selection of new books for $5 each with all money raised going to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation (ILF). The ILF does important work in providing learning resources and literacy support to indigenous children and families living in remote Communities across Australia. Money raised through this initiative will be in addition to the money raised for the ILF during our book week celebrations.
Please note that we will only be able to accept correct cash payments for this event as we will not be able to provide change.
ONLINE BOOK FAIR
There are still a number of books available to donate through the flexi-schools app in the “shop” section should families wish to participate in this initiative which will run throughout Term 3. These books will also be on display in Leary’s Lane between 8:00am - 8:45am Thursday 5th September should families wish to view them during our scheduled “Parent Cuppa & Chat”. Please note however that cash purchases will not be possible for these items.
