Our final group of First Holy Communion Candidates completed the sacrament last Sunday. It was lovely to see so many friends and family join us at St Agnes’ Church in celebration.
Sunday holds special significance for Christians as the day of Jesus' resurrection. Early Christians chose Sunday for assembling, praying, reading the Scriptures, and breaking bread, a tradition that continues in Catholic communities today as the Eucharist. Saint Paul described the Church as the body of Christ, emphasising unity in diversity among believers. Sunday Mass is central to Catholic life, providing a faith-filled encounter rather than a social event, and offers an opportunity to worship, support, and encourage each other. It is a time to give thanks, seek God's help, and witness His love, especially through Jesus' life, death, and resurrection. Amid life's challenges, Sunday Mass serves as a reminder of God's central role and the renewal brought by Jesus' resurrection.
All members of our St Peter’s community, Catholic or not, are warmly invited to Sunday mass in our parish. It is truly a nourishing and fulfilling experience for all and a chance for our students to share with their families some of the things we learn about and experience at school.
MISSION
CATHOLIC FAITH AT ST PETER'S
Year 6 came together today for our final Celebration of the Word for Term 2. Today’s liturgy celebrated The Feast of The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, which always occurs on the Friday that falls 19 days after Pentecost Sunday. The devotion especially emphasises Christ’s Divine love for humanity. We thank Fr Prodencio and all our family and friends who came along to celebrate with us today.
Year 4 Red attended mass at St Francis of Assisi Chapel this week. Our students represented our school with reverence, and we were once again warmly welcomed by our neighbouring parishioners. Next Wednesday, Year 4 Green will attend. Families and friends are welcome to join us. Mass begins at 9.30 am in the St Francis of Assisi Chapel off Lochinvar Place.

3 WAYS TO STOP ANXIETY STEALING SLEEP IN KIDS AND TEENS
DR KAREN YOUNG (HEY SIGMUND)
Anxiety and sleep have a complicated relationship. The part of the brain most sensitive to a lack of sleep is the amygdala (the 'anxiety' part of the brain) - but - just when brains and bodies are meant to be sliding into peaceful zzz's, anxiety shows up with party lights. Here are three ways to take the struggle out of sleep, and help kiddos and teens get plenty of peaceful pillow time - so you can too.
PEER SUPPORT
This week was our first session of Peer Support, we looked at how we can build skills when working with others. We each took turns talking about our strengths and what we had in common with each other - like going to the beach, having a pet and our hobbies. We all found we had more in common with each other than we realised!
We set up our rules for our Peer Support groups, which included:
- Listen when another person is talking
- Only positive comments
- Take turns to speak
- Encourage others
We discussed why it is important to know people’s names, and asked how we felt when someone has forgotten your name.
Next week: we will assist students to recognise bullying and know what to do to address it.
Well done Year 6 Leaders on facilitating your first Peer Support Group!
CAMP QUALITY PUPPET SHOW
On Wednesday, we welcomed the Camp Quality Puppet show to our school. We were entertained by the engaging puppetiers delivering us an important message about inclusion and empathy for those suffering from the disease. The show aims to take away the stigma and fear from cancer in an age appropriate way.
Please see the attached flyer for more information regarding the show and it’s content.

GLASSHOUSE SHOW FOR YEARS 1 AND 2
On Wednesday, Years 1 and 2 attended the Glasshouse Education Program called ‘The One Who Planted Trees’. Inspired by Jean Giono's The Man Who Planted Trees, The One Who Planted Trees is an inspirational story that proves just how much one person can do. It excited all the students who were humming out of the theatre, wanting to pull out a spade and care for their environment.
Here are some students who thoroughly enjoyed their experience:
I really loved when they were popping the things up and when the puppets were eating the bugs. Reuben Kennedy |
I loved the different puppets and the voices they made. Caterina Vallim |
