NATIONAL SORRY DAY
National Sorry Day is an annual event held in Australia on May 26. It commemorates the mistreatment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, particularly the Stolen Generations.
National Sorry Day is part of a broader movement towards reconciliation in Australia. This movement includes efforts to address the social and economic disadvantages faced by Indigenous Australians and promote their rights and culture. The day holds significant emotional and cultural importance for many Indigenous Australians and serves as a call to action for the wider Australian community to support reconciliation and justice.
The observance of National Sorry Day and Reconciliation Week is a vital part of Australia's journey towards recognising and repairing the harms inflicted upon Indigenous communities. It is crucial for acknowledging and healing the historical and ongoing injustices faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and provides an opportunity for all Australians to come together, learn from the past, and work towards a united future.

MISSION
ST AGNES' PARISH VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Did you know we have around 50 different types of volunteering opportunities in our parish? Every day of the week, 52 weeks of the year, volunteers give generously to others, using their skills and talents to make a difference, helping people of all ages in a multitude of ways.
Our Parish Vision and Mission statements clearly call us to fulfil our baptismal call and actively engage in discipleship that draws us ever closer to God. Through volunteering in the many areas of service and ministry in our parish, we are supporting one another, nurturing faith, proclaiming the Good News, evangelising, sharing, celebrating, reaching out and giving of ourselves.
We invite everyone to consider volunteering in an area of interest where people can benefit from your sharing of skills, talents and kindliness and experience the joy of receiving. Please complete the expression of interest section if you would like to join our volunteer collective (copies available at the Pastoral Office) or go to:

HOW TO MANAGE SCHOOL ANXIETY
Anything that takes children and teens away from their important adults comes with the potential for anxiety to steal into their world. For even the bravest of hearts, this can cause more distress than it deserves to, especially in relation to school. As intrusive as school anxiety can be, it is not a sign of dysfunction or breakage. It is one of the most human experiences, and it can be managed. Read more of this article by Psychologist Karen Young by following the link below or viewing the YouTube clip. If you would be interested in a parenting workshop around this topic in the future please email: amanda.thomas@lism.catholic.
WEDNESDAY 5TH JUNE
YEARS 3 TO 6 - 11.40am to 12.40pm
KINDERGARTEN, YEARS 1 AND 2 - 1.00pm to 1.30pm
Please note: The shows will run in the middle of the day so please avoid any appointments if possible.
We are excited to see a fun and free interactive puppet show next week that aims to help schools create supportive communities for any child impacted by cancer, whether they are dealing with their own diagnosis, or the diagnosis of a sibling, mum, dad or carer.
The puppets provide interactive cancer education that helps to dispel common misunderstandings about cancer and deliver a shared language to facilitate cancer conversations.
There are two shows, written by Julianne O’Brien, aimed at different age groups. They both follow the story of siblings Tom and Ariel as they face a cancer diagnosis in their family.
- The Big Party caters to preschool to lower primary students (up to Year 2)
- The Big Score is aimed at upper primary students (Years 3 to Year 6)
The program relates to kids on their level and explores themes relevant to the cancer experience, including:
- You can’t catch cancer from someone else
- Treatments and side-effects of cancer
- How to be supportive of someone facing cancer
- The importance of recognising our own strengths and the power of positivity
