OUR STUDENTS’ LEARNING
Last week we shared the Catholic Mission and Identity feedback from parents through our recent Family survey.
We apologise as it was only realised afterwards, there was no key apparent.
The key to the graphs work on a sliding scale from strongly disagree on the left to strongly agree on the right.
This week we are sharing the responses related to children’s learning.

I would also like to offer the school and families' sincere thanks to:

- Leanne Kalchbauer who has been the Leader of Evangelisation for the past 6 years. Leanne has been an outstanding advocate promoting St Peter’s Catholic Identity and Mission within the RE team. Leanne will remain as a support with her valuable experience and insight.
‘ONE HIT WONDERS - DANCING THROUGH THE GENERATIONS’
Unfortunately our “One Hit Wonders’ are going to remain ‘one hit wonders’ as we have found it a very difficult process to reproduce dances due to copyright restrictions to most of the remaining performances.
As a result, we have decided not to present any more performances through the newsletter.
If you would like a copy of your child’s routine, we can email to individual families and would like to do that on request.
If you would like a video of your child’s/children’s class dance, could you please email your request to the following address: pmacp-schoolzine@lism.catholic.edu.au and indicate your child/children’s name and specific class (eg. 3 Green).
STEAM - ‘TINY CUBBY’ MAKERS
A new innovation for our engineers and artistic decorators.
Recently our Pastoral Care team have introduced an initiative where our senior students are mentoring younger students in the exercise of building and decorating ‘Tiny Cubbies.’
Mr Fisher (in picture) has helped guide the Year 6 mentors in the early part of the program on safe construction and problem-solving strategies.
The senior students have then set about the task of building the tiny cubbies and are now in the final stages of decorating their constructions.
Mr Fisher will do a final check to ensure high standards comply.
We will continue this program into 2022 as it has been a really good opportunity to develop leadership in our senior students and give younger students a sense of purpose and accomplishment.
Perhaps next year we will make a number of these available to families within our community at a cost which covers materials.
MISSION
St Peter’s Christmas Appeal
Next Friday students are invited to wear their most fun and festive Christmas attire and bring in a monetary donation towards our St Peter’s Christmas Appeal! St Peter’s has a long tradition of supporting the St Agnes’ Parish Christmas Appeal. We know there are people in our community in need, and in the words of Saint Mary MacKillop, we strive to “never see a need without doing something about it!”
Please join in the fun and support us in helping out our families in need this Christmas contributing whatever amount you are comfortable with.
Faith Focus: Truth
We live in a modern age full of scientific and technological wonders, but at times it seems that the very concept of ‘truth’ is under threat. Some commentators have even suggested we live in a post-truth age. The good news is that amongst the noise of social media opinions, data and commentary, we still have a source of Truth that has stood the test of time; the love of God, the reality of Jesus and the revelation of relationship found in the Bible.
Bishop Greg Homeming worked with the staff across the Lismore Diocese earlier this year, challenging us to consider the role truth plays in our lives. He asked us to consider 3 questions:
Do I live justly and honestly?
Do I live towards goodness?
Do I live in a way that cares for people?
These are the filters through which we might consider the way we are living our lives, but in a rapidly changing world it can often be hard to discern exactly which direction to take, or choice to make. Bishop Greg says that we will know when we are on track or have made the correct decisions because we “blossom and grow”.
Let us conclude this section with the words of St. Mark the Ascetic; “He who speaks rightly should recognize that he receives the words from God. For the truth belongs not to him who speaks, but to God who is energizing him.”
St Agnes' House - Say Thank You !!!
The residents enjoyed receiving the cards and letters from our students as part of Catholic Mission Month we wish to sincerely thank all students who wrote to them: Mia, Samuel, Maddox, Elijah, Tom and the two Charlies’…
Staff Professional Learning
The staff had a very productive professional learning day on Wednesday. The focus was on the work of Dr Lyn Sharratt’s “Clarity: What Matters Most in Learning, Teaching, and Leading.”
We began the collaborative journey, along with many other schools in the Diocese of Lismore early last year.
The majority of the day was spent developing staff skills and knowledge around ways we can improve children’s capacity to learn, providing practical ways for how to individualise student learning in order to achieve the best outcome, with a focus on improving student writing.
ALL VISITORSAre reminded to please SIGN INTO Service NSW on your phone and to wear a mask BEFORE entering the school office All visitors entering our school grounds must be fully vaccinated. |
