ONES SLIPPIN AND SLIDIN’ IN SYNC
Today we share with you our Year 1 teams – 1 Blue and 1 Green as they ‘hot foot it’ across the handball courts.
If you choose a big screen you might be able to spot the concentration and bursting memory brain cells as the children attempt to recall their dances from weeks in advance. I think they have done a wonderful job in presenting their HEADLINES AND ANTHEMS - DANCE, DANCE, DANCE routines for our families.
WELCOME TO THE WAYS
Yurissa started in Year 1 Green through lockdown.
We warmly welcome her and her family to St Peter’s.
Please keep an eye out for the Ways and say hello and introduce yourself. I know they will appreciate the gesture.
ORDERING NEW SCHOOL UNIFORMS FOR 2022
The St Agnes' Uniform Store have indicated they are on track for delivery of the new school uniform at the end of the year. This will enable them to be ready for January trading of new uniforms from when they open on 4 January 2022. The Uniform Store will only be selling the new uniform.
They have already started setting up lay-by’s for next year’s uniforms – mainly for Kinder and Year 7’s. This allows parents to start paying off the uniforms. Families will not be able to finalise and collect the lay-by’s until January.
When families collect the lay-by, the St Agnes' Uniform Store will check the sizing (like they always do with lay-bys) before families leave the store.
At this stage, the St Agnes' Uniform Store still have supplies of most sizes for the existing uniform items.
SCHOOL PHOTOS
Unfortunately, COVID restrictions will prevent our School Photographer from entering the school this year.
We are currently considering a less structured alternative class photo, taken by staff, which may reflect the type of year we have experienced.
We will share these photos with our families when we have made a final decision as to the process.

Today our students wore ‘red for dyslexia.’
It is very important we build awareness amongst our children and in our community around the challenges that impact people with dyslexia.

Socktober
This year our school is partnering with Catholic Mission by participating in Socktober. We invite our students to connect with young people experiencing challenges in the developing world through education and the world game of soccer.
This year, our collective fundraising efforts will support vulnerable children in Thailand through a kindergarten run by the Good Shepherd Sisters in Bangkok. The kindergarten provides a caring learning environment for the children and allows their parents, often single mothers, to work and support the family.
As a school, we have the opportunity to contribute in a special way. The children are invited to set a number of Socktober goals seeking family and friends to sponsor them for each goal achieved. Sponsorship doesn’t need to be a large amount, a gold coin for each goal achieved would go a long way to help vulnerable children in Thailand.
Donations can be collected in two ways: a cash/gold coin donation can be sent into school on Friday 29 October, our Socktober Event Day, or you can make a donation to the St Peter’s Fundraising Page using the following link:
https://www.socktober.org.au/fundraisers/stpeterscatholicprimaryschoolportmacquarie
On our Socktober Event Day, Friday 29 October, the students are invited to wear wacky socks and will have an opportunity to make their own sockball, just like the one Pope Francis made to play soccer with when he was a child, and in the same method that millions of poor and vulnerable children still use around the world today. They will learn about this in class and are asked to start collecting recycled materials to use to make their sockball, including old socks, plastic bags, old t-shirts and string. More information about Catholic Mission and Socktober can be found at socktober.org.au.
A note was sent home to families yesterday.
Socktober - Kicking Goals for Kids in Need!
Thank you for your support and for helping your child/ren ‘sock it to poverty!’
LEARNING
Kinder
Kinder have been working hard on their spelling this week!
Year 3
In English, Year 3 are learning about the Day of the Dead celebrations, drawing Sugar Skulls and creating Fiesta Flowers to signify and celebrate the lives of those that have passed.
Year 4
For their PDH learning this term, Year 4 have been investigating their contribution to the world around us. They used a construction activity to highlight the role they play, both as individuals and as a group, to positively impact our world.
Year 6
Year 6 were using a variety of materials and their own net designs to create prisms and pyramids. They also explored 2D shapes on geoboards and recreated their image on grid paper.
Christmas Hampers
As we are all aware 2021 has been a challenging year for many within our community with the ongoing effects of bushfires, floods and COVID. The impact of these adversities has also been felt by our wonderful, hard working volunteers who co-ordinate the annual Christmas hamper appeal within our Parish.
Unfortunately, this has meant that Toni Roach and her team have made the extremely difficult decision that they will be unable to co ordinate the appeal this year.
As a Parish we are looking at other possible options as to how we may assist those in need over the Christmas period.
CHANGE TO CLOSE CONTACT ISOLATION/TESTING REQUIREMENTS
NSW Health has changed the self isolation and testing requirements for close contacts dependent upon their vaccination status.
PARENT VACCINATION
Semester Reports - Parent Portal
Semester Reports ... delivered differently!
A reminder for Parents and Carers
School Semester Reports will no longer be sent home in paper form at the end of each semester. Instead they will be available in digital form via a Parent Portal Login!
If you have not already done so please register NOW ... in readiness for our Semester 2 reports!
Parent Portal Login
The Parent Portal is a secure web based application which contains information about the school and your child including calendar, semester reports and NAPLAN results.
If you don’t already have a Parent Portal login it is a simple task to create one ... please see Creating an account in the Parent Portal
For security reasons the username for this account must be your email address recorded at the school.
Once an account has been created, parents will be able to access the Parent Portal at anytime via http://parent.lism.catholic.edu.au/ - this link is also available on SZapp as well as our school website.
If you do not have an email address which is known to the school or you have changed your email address or provider please contact the school office to update your details.
For those parents with children in high school (MacKillop/Regional and/or Newman Colleges) you may already be using the Parental Portal. One simple login will give parents access to all of their childrens’ past reports plus future ones as they are complete. Just use your existing Parent Portal Login to access! The Parent Portal will show reports for both primary and high school students (ensure your email address is the same at all schools.)
Hard copies of reports will only be provided upon request.

Soccer | 100m Sprint | 200m | 1,500m | 800m |
Discus | Long Jump | Relay | Cross Country |
Favourite Sports: League Tag, Ozz Tag, Soccer, Touch, Surfing
What is your most memorable sporting memory at St Peter’s and why?:
My favourite memory was in Year 4 making the Polding relay because at the age of 10 to make it to that level I found was amazing.
Do you have any advice to give future sports stars at St Peter’s?:
My only piece of advice is to keep trying and all the hard work and effort will pay off.
Who do you admire to be like as a sporting person and why?:
I admire Sam Kerr (Soccer) and Bethany Hamilton (Surfer) because they have achieved a great amount in a short amount of time they have been on earth. Sam Kerr is the top goalscorer and she is only 28.
What are your future sporting plans?:
My future sporting plans are to be who I am and continue all the hard work I put in. Hopefully one day my hard work will see me in an Olympic Team.
Thank you Claire.......
